Prince Albert, Sask. -- Marlene Bird and Patrick Lavallee outside of the Prince Albert Provincial Courthouse, where Leslie Black was sentenced to 16 years for attempted murder on Sept. 22, 2017. In June 2014, Black physically and sexually assaulted Bird in a downtown Prince Albert alley, before lighting her on fire. Bird's legs were amputated and her eyesight was permanently damaged as a result of the attack. Bird would pass away just months later, on November 27, 2017.
